Nokia has kept its promise which it did at time of releasing Nokia Asha 501. Nokia Upgrades its “Asha 301” with Whatsapp messaging App. Nokia has released an over-the-air Asha software platform update for the popular Asha 501 with an addition of popular instant messaging app, WhatsApp.

The new features which are added to Asha 501 via this software update was revealed by Nokia during the release of the Nokia Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503 at Nokia World.

Some of the important changes which you can notice, include instant access to camera app with help of single swipe of lockscreen and camera click by touching anywhere on the camera display. With newly added filters and effects, captured images can be edited.

Nokia also come up with Fastlane UI on the Asha 501. Its now come with interactive alarm and improve privacy features on the lock screen. This privacy feature give user to choose between a notification icon and a full notification with details. Nokia has also added some more services to its Fastlane notification which include apps like Odnoklassniki, Sina Weibo, and Renren.

In addition to all above this time software update for Nokia Asha 501 brings an API for VoIP. This would allow users to make calls over a data connection using any third party apps. Via Nimbuzz at present user can use the VoIP feature, later more apps will be added. Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync is now supported in Asha 501 after this software update.

The promises made by Nokia at Nokia World was indeed kept by Finnish giant now. We hope in future also they will come up with better updates to challenge contemporary leaders.
